available. A wet/dry uses a natural biological process to break down toxins
and waste material.
A wet/dry filter
works by pulling water out of the main tank through a
pre-filter, the water is then brought into the main unit and slowly moved
across material with a high surface area that grows bacterial colonies.
These colonies remove toxins in the water that would otherwise build up and
kill your aquarium inhabitants. The cleaned water is then returned to the
tank. Excellent for freshwater, saltwater, and
reef aquariums. Having a wet/dry filter offers stable water conditions with
less chance for quick swings. Less tank maintenance that with conventional
filters. Fewer water changes. Sump models make it easy to add a submersible
heater, skimmer, or other accessory.
